Nuffic is putting the spotlight on Russia in 2013. Throughout the year Russia will be the focus country for the Dutch higher education field and many special events will be held.

Nuffic’s Russian activities are part of the official Dutch-Russian 2013 programme. This year is the Netherlands-Russia year, a year in which the Netherlands and Russia emphasise their long bilateral relations. The celebration of the bilateral year is by special request of the Russian government.

There will be many events in both countries in the fields of business, culture, education and science. The first part of 2013 is focused on Russia in the Netherlands, and from June onwards the focus is on Dutch events and celebrations in the Russian Federation.

Numerous Russian higher education institutions are interested in international cooperation with the Netherlands and the best institutions receive funding for this from the Russian government. It is also expected that new scholarships will soon be available for thousands of Russian students willing to study abroad.

Activities in the higher education field

Nuffic will put Dutch-Russian activities in higher education in the spotlight. To keep Dutch higher education institutions updated on new developments, updated market reports on Russia will be released at the end of January.

A special Russia seminar on higher education and institutional cooperation will be held in the Hermitage Amsterdam on Tuesday 19 March. The seminar’s central theme is ‘How to cooperate successfully in Russia’.

In addition, Nuffic’s annual conference on 12 March will also pay special attention to Russia and Transfer magazine will publish a Russia special in April.

October: Dutch Days

Nuffic’s Neso office in Moscow will organise a two-week festival in October. The ‘Dutch Days’ festival will include a fair, a conference and seminars to promote Dutch higher education in Russia.

During the Dutch Days the Netherlands will officially open the International Study Abroad Fair in Moscow and St Petersburg. In St Petersburg the Dutch Days will be organised in cooperation with the Netherlands Institute (NIP). The programme of the Dutch Days will be published at the end of January.

Dutch higher education institutions are asked to participate in the Dutch Days or combine the Dutch Days with their other activities in Russia in October 2013. For more information, please contact Charles Hoedt, director Nuffic Neso Russia

Digital promotion

The office in Moscow will conduct a special digital campaign to promote student mobility in 2013. They will launch four apps for tablets and smartphones in the spring to inform potential students and their parents about Study in Holland. Every month they will introduce a new video clip of a short interview with a Russian student currently studying in the Netherlands.

The office will also organise activities involving Russian business representatives and scientists who studied in Holland. Following the opening of the NANR-network by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in November 2011, several successful events in Moscow and St. Petersburg were organised in cooperation with Dutch companies.

Dutch ambassador Ron Keller will host the first NANR activity of 2013 at his Moscow residence at the beginning of February.
