NFP students well-represented at NL4Talents
On 23 February the first edition of NL4Talents took place. About 1,000 talented international students and invitees gathered in The Hague to engage in networking and get information on working in the Netherlands. Among the international students attending the event there were many students with a fellowship of the Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP).
NL4Talents is the follow-up of the Day of the International Student and focuses mainly on encouraging talented international students to stay in the Netherlands after their graduation or staying connected to the Netherlands. Nuffic was happy to see many NFP students at the event.
Staying connected
Although NFP students return to their home country and employer, staying connected to the Netherlands can be a great asset for both them and their employer, but also for their country and the Netherlands. Nuffic therefore acknowledges the importance of the presence of talented NFP students at the event.
A special programme was developed giving them the opportunity to get in touch with fellow students, gain knowledge on topics relevant to their organisation and get information about the Holland Alumni Network and the NFP Alumni Activities.
NFP
The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes are initiated and fully funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation. The overall aim of the NFP is to help increase both the number and the competencies of skilled staff of organisations in developing countries.
Candidates have to be nominated by their employer to be eligible for the fellowship. There also has to be a clear need for training within the context of their organisation. Once the NFP students have finished their training in the Netherlands they return to their home country and employer to put their newly-developed skills into practice.
