Retaining international students after graduation and attracting alumni to return to Holland for work is important for the Dutch knowledge economy. To make it easier for alumni to find information on work opportunities in Holland, Nuffic is setting up a new business and career portal.

A recent report of a study on the careers of Holland alumni shows that some of them did not receive sufficient information on career opportunities and incentive programmes allowing them to remain in or return to Holland. For example, many alumni did not know the highly-skilled migrants scheme that allows graduates to stay in Holland for one year to look for a job.

The business and career portal will improve the information provision for international students and alumni.

Joint effort

The portal is a joint effort of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and  Nuffic.

The new portal will also allow companies in Dutch top sectors and higher education institutions to stay in touch with potential knowledge workers.

Go-live in November

The portal is expected to be launched in November 2012 during a special career event for international students.
