Higher education mission to Brazil
Nuffic is organising a second higher education mission to Brazil, at an executive level, in the week of 19 November 2012. The goal of the mission is to deepen existing collaboration and open doors for new collaboration in higher education between both countries.
During the first mission in 2010, Dutch higher education institutions had a chance to get acquainted with the Brazilian institutions and government policy.
Agenda
The education mission will visit Brasília, São Paulo and Belo Horizonte respectively. In these three cities there will be meetings with executives of Brazilian top institutions, governmental institutions, umbrella organisations and the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
Directors and representatives of eleven higher education institutions, the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (HBO-Raad) and the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) will join the mission, headed by Hanneke Teekens, director of Nuffic.
Royal visit to Brazil
The executive higher education mission takes place in parallel to the visit of His Royal Highness Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange and Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of the Netherlands and the economic mission headed by the State Secretary for Economic Affairs.
The State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science will also visit Brazil. The education mission will, for some parts, join in with the programme of the State Secretary and the official visit.
Science without Borders
Brazil offers many possibilities for collaboration in education and research. The Science without Borders Holland programme plays an important role in this. Through this programme Brazilian students can study at Dutch institutions with a scholarship from the Brazilian government.
