Help pioneering students win an iPad
International students in the Netherlands, Holland alumni and students aspiring to study in Holland can win an iPad with their own photograph, showing that they are pioneers. With this contest Study in Holland, the Nuffic initiative to promote Holland as a study destination, wants to reach out to as many international students as possible. Their message: Holland is a country of true pioneers, where international students are challenged to execute their innovative ideas.
In 2012 Study in Holland introduced three unique selling points: Holland as a pioneering country (“Pioneering”), a country strongly connected to other cultures (“Connected”) and a country in which everybody is encouraged to be innovative and creative (“Creative”). The photo contest is a new, interactive means to show the link between Holland as a pioneering country and the students who think of themselves as pioneers. In addition to winning an iPad, students can become famous: Study in Holland intends to use submitted photos for its promotional activities.
Gain votes
Social media play an important role in this contest. From 12 November until 2 December students can upload their photos on www.areyouapioneer.nl, add a caption and invite their friends and relatives through social media to vote for their photo. On 10 December the top five photos will be published. The most popular photo will be awarded with an iPad. The second place wins a National Geography photography book and the third place will be awarded with a prize package filled with Study in Holland goodies.
Stimulate your students!
Dutch higher education institutions can play a key role in the success of this contest. By stimulating your students to take part, you can promote the Netherlands’ educational offer and attract new international students. Of course, students will also be addressed via many other channels, such as social media, the Nuffic Neso Offices, Dutch embassies and other networking partners within Holland and around the world.
