ACA 20th Anniversary Conference, The Hague, 9 – 11 June 2013
In 2013, the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and part of the celebrations will be the ACA 20th Anniversary Conference. As a founding member of the ACA, Nuffic is proud to co-organise and host this important event, which will take place in The Hague, from 9 to 11 June 2013. We are expecting many participants from around the world and from the Netherlands in particular.

Internationalisation and international mobility. Where do we stand, where are we heading?
What would be more appropriate on such an occasion than to revisit the ACA’s core themes, international mobility and internationalisation? The jubilee conference therefore bears the name Internationalisation and international mobility. Where do we stand, where are we heading?
The conference will address these issues from a double perspective: a historical one, which will establish where we have come from, and a prospective one, which will try to anticipate future developments. Important sub-themes will be the drivers and policies of mobility (or, rather, different ‘mobilities’), ‘mobility windows’ and mobility and employability, as well as ‘internationalisation at home’ and intercultural education.
There will be a special focus on the ethics of internationalisation. Compared to earlier ACA Annual Conferences, this one will have more working groups, to enhance interactivity.
Distinguished speakers
For the opening keynote, we have asked for an assessment of global conflicts and cooperation, by former Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot. In one of the closing keynotes, Ulrich Grothus, Deputy Secretary General of DAAD, will address the crisis in Europe and what European higher education can do to help solve it. But these are not the only distinguished speakers. In the choice of presenters, the ACA and Nuffic remain loyal to their old principle: only the best.
