2,000 Chinese PhD candidates in search of foreign universities
Dutch knowledge institutions that want to expand their research cooperation with China will have an opportunity to meet potential Chinese PhD candidates at a matchmaking event titled ‘PhD Workshop China 2012’. The event will take place in Beijing on 25 and 26 November.
At the event you can have one-on-one talks with talented PhD candidates who are looking for a research position abroad. All selected candidates, about 2,000 in total, from various fields of study, are from the “985”and “211” universities. These are the most prestigious Chinese universities, that are financially supported by the Chinese government.
Matching process
As a first step in the matching process, the PhD candidates will hand in a digital CV and a research proposal, indicating which foreign university they would like to talk to. The representatives of the institution can then select their preferred discussion partners using an online video tool that was especially designed for this matchmaking process. If there is a mutual interest, a first introduction meeting of 20 minutes will take place.
Holland Lounge
During the meeting you can focus on the details of the research proposal: for the more practical issues you can refer the candidates to the Holland Lounge. At the lounge, Chinese alumni with research experience in Holland as well as representatives of Neso China are available to provide practical information about studying, living and doing research in Holland. Candidates can also attend presentations held at the lounge and watch introduction videos, for example from participating institutions.
Making new contacts
The event also offers opportunities for universities that are still considering research cooperation. It does not only give insight into the supply and quality of potential PHD candidates in China, but also provides a chance to make new contacts. You can visit local institutions and hold guest lectures. Neso China can provide assistance in this.
The Dutch participation in the event is coordinated by Academic Transfer, in cooperation with Neso China.
