Matchmaking with potential partners

Let’s assume you have decided that one of the Neso countries offers an interesting target market for your institution, institute or faculty, and are now seeking to collaborate with a local institution. The Nuffic Nesos can offer advice as to which local institutions would make suitable potential partners for your organisation and explain how to establish effective partnerships.

Nuffic Nesos can help you by:

  • preparing profiles of potential local partner institutions;
  • establishing contact with selected institutions;
  • setting up meetings and/or visits;
  • providing advice and guidance in the area of intercultural communication.

Profiling local institutions

We will select institutions that specialise in specific fields of research or education or offer specific study programmes that are of interest to your organisation. We will also conduct checks to verify these institutions’ national and international reputation and quality standards.

We will conduct this process in an informal and discreet manner. We will take stock of the local institutions’ international alliances and determine to which extent they are willing to cooperate with Dutch institutions.

Seminars and matchmaking events

If sufficient Dutch education institutions are interested, the Nuffic Nesos will also organise seminars and matchmaking events.

One such event is the Sino-Dutch Education Forum [LINK] held on 25 and 26 June 2012, organised by Nuffic and its Chinese partner organisation CEAIE.

In 2008, Nuffic Neso China organised a similar event: the Sino-Dutch Matchmaking Conference [LINK] in Chengdu, as a part of the Go West Campaign.

Intercultural communication

The directors and employees of the various Nuffic Nesos have a solid knowledge of the local language and/or culture. They can assist you in communicating with local institution representatives and provide information on local customs and protocols.

They can also provide advice on administrative processes, which often differ from those in the Netherlands. One example would be the recording of financial details when entering into partnership agreements.
