What is professional recognition?
Do you want to work in another country of the EU with a Dutch qualification? Or do you want to work in the Netherlands with a qualification from another EU country? If you do, it is important to know that there are European agreements in place on the mutual recognition of qualifications providing access to regulated professions.
Directive 2005/36/EC
European Directive 2005/36/EC forms the cornerstone of the professional recognition process. It sets out the professions which are regulated by law (such as nurse and driving instructor). The aim of the Directive is to promote mobility. In practice, however, things are not always simple.
