This project has been developed by the Elgin Learning Foundation (ELF). The tender for this project expired on 29 January 2010. Nuffic has awarded this tender to Stichting DLO/Centre for Development Innovation (CDI), which has formed a consortium with Van Hall-Larenstein, MDF Training & Consultancy BV and AOC Oost-Nederland.
Project description
This project will support the Elgin Learning Foundation as a FET agricultural college. The project supports:
- the ongoing institutional transformation process (management, cope with growth, strategic planning and HRD);
- further extension and strengthening of the agricultural department, including its applied agro-training programmes, to respond to the labour market, gender and equity, and skills.
The expected main results, with special attention for gender, are:
The ELF transformation process is strengthened:
- ELF's Human Resources policies and management harmonized;
- Management staff and Human Resources developed;
The capacity of the Agriculture Department is enhanced:
- staff developed;
- curriculum developed;
- demonstration plots established;
- specialized training to emerging farmers;
- agricultural action research;
- M&E system in place.
The two target groups are:
- ELF management staff and Agricultural Department staff;
- Emerging farmers, with a focus on female farmers.
Beneficiaries
The final beneficiaries are the land reform beneficiaries and the unemployed in Western Cape Province.
