Nuffic has awarded this tender to the Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, which has formed a consortium with Kadaster International.
Project description
Under NPT programme GTM-005 the Faculty of Agronomy of San Carlos University, together with three regional university centres in Quetzaltenango, Chiquimula and El Petén, developed the basis for a three-year technical course in land surveying.
Due to popular demand, the course was extended with the option to set up an engineering course in land administration. The three centres, however, still lack the required capacity to set up such a course.
The project will address a number of key issues including:
- the lack of laboratories;
- the lack of access to distance learning facilities;
- the low level of participation of women.
