This project has been developed by Mizan A-TVET-college. The tender for this project expired on 19 August 2011. Nuffic has awarded this tender to Van Hall Larenstein, which has formed a consortium with the Aeres Group.

Project description

This project aims to contribute to better park management and wildlife conservation by enabling Mizan A-TVET to produce better and more graduates in the field of Natural Resources Management (NRM) and wildlife conservation.

The main course topics are:

• forest development techniques
• forest conservation and protection techniques
• forest utilisation techniques
• wildlife conservation and management techniques

The courses will integrate a value chain approach to forest products, business and entrepreneurial skills and gender perspectives.

Finally, the project will assist Mizan A-TVET in developing its capacity with regard to:

• leadership skills
• financial and educational management
• management structures and systems
• gender mainstreaming
• labour market linkages
