Project description

Water is the most precious natural resource of Bangladesh, but it is also the most difficult resource to control and use. The proposed NICHE project will address the present situation and future challenges in the integrated water resources management and engineering sector in Bangladesh. It aims to strengthen the collaboration between and the capacity of the four organisations DWRE at BUET, DIWM at the BAU, CEGIS and WARPO on integrated water resources management to contribute and support the realisation of the Delta plan in order to cope with future challenges in Bangladesh.

For this purpose curricula will be formulated and adapted, research strengthened, staff trained and a dissemination strategy developed through a platform. Laboratory facilities will be upgraded and mathematical modeling tools developed on scenario development.

In this project two universities, a research institute and a policy institute collaborate on scenario development, which makes this project of great relevance to the sector and the Delta plan.
