Mr Dirk Elsen
Dirk Elsen (1960) graduated in law from Leiden University in the Netherlands, and from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia (USA). Between 1985 and 1991, he worked for Royal Dutch Shell, initially in The Hague as a legal counsel and later in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, as a contract advisor.
From late 1991 to 1997, Mr Elsen served as senior legal counsel at the World Bank in Washington DC. In 1997, he left to join ABN-AMRO at its headquarters in Amsterdam, where he held various commercial and management positions until 2002. From 2002 until 2011, Mr Elsen was Chairman of the Board of SNV Netherlands Development Organization. SNV has around 1,600 professionals working to build local capacity in 33 developing countries.
In January 2012 he took up the position of Director Emerging Markets at Triodos Investment Management.
Mr Elsen joined Nuffic’s Board of Trustees in 2007 and is a member of the Audit Committee.
